NLCD 2013 Developed Imperviousness Descriptor (CONUS)

The impervious descriptor product provides a pixel by pixel companion to the impervious surface product. It includes three different classes of roads, thinned roads, buildings, wind turbines, well pads, and other energy production sites. Thinned roads are the only impervious surface that are not present in the land cover product. These are generally unmaintained roads may appear and disappear depending upon yearly usage and are best described as “logging roads” or “two track roads”.   Additional information about these class types are present in the metadata. These class types allow users to parse impervious surface and separate meaningful impervious surface types for analysis.
